Is it ok to use adult shampoo as bubble bath for a 3 yr old baby girl?

Bubble Bath Soaps

My wife tells me that lots of mothers say not to use adult as baby bubble bath because can get "infections down there" from it? Is this true? I’d be amazed as I just think that is . Why pay for expensive baby bubble bath solution if the kid is already smart enough not to put it in her eyes? Any truth to that "infection" rumor?

    I would definitely listen to your wife and not use adult shampoo as bubble bath. Talk to your doc, but I woudn’t use bubble bath in general.

    Any bubble bath can give someone a UTI. Even baby bubble bath. My brother in law is a urologist and has made this point clear to us many times. I’ve had a few UTIs in my life and I asked him how to best prevent this from happening to our daughters.

    no it is not ok to do that even though she is smart enough not to put it in her eyes… i think u shld wait until she gets a lil more age on her to use any type of bubble bath…… LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE

    No do not do that. It is too harsh and will burn her down there and yes can give infections or a rash. Shampoo has harsh ingredients. They have baby bubble bath that is way cheaper than shampoo. They also have now the baby bubble bath/wash/shampoo

    adult shampoos have tons of ingredients that are made just for hair. its like askin you to use acne face wash as mouth wash…it may get the job done, but its not what it was intended for. And yes it can cause infections. baby bath is irritant free for ALL sensitive areas. Besides, baby bath is less then 5 dollars at all major stores. most decent shampoo’s are bout the same or more.

    Your wife is correct. Any woman can get an infection from sitting in a strong solution of soapy water, but little girls are especially vulnerable since their little urinary tract and vaginal tract are short. Even if an infection did not result, there could be irritation and inflammation which could result in a doctor’s visit from the harsh soap. I would not want to be the parent who had to explain to the pediatrician how it got there. Even some bubble bath designed for children can result in minor problems. I would limit bath time in any bubble bath for a child this age. This is no rumor. I have four sisters and four nieces and we have personal experience with this one.

    I wouldn’t suggest using adult shampoo for her bubble bath, she might be smart enough not to put it in her eyes or mouth, but what if she accidently forgets that its adult shampoo and not real baby bubble bath and tries to go put her head under or something!

    Bubble baths do pose an infection risk , regardless of which kind of soap you use. BUT adult shampoo is much more abrasive and isn’t tear free. Baby shampoo isn’t any more expensive than regular shampoo so I’d stick with that.

    Yes. Adult shampoo is meant to remove stubborn greases, dirt, and oils from human hair and is not intended to stay long-term among soft vaginal tissues and fluids of a developing human child (or anyone else). Some children even have a hard time with the formulas of children’s bubble bath like Mr. Bubble. Try different brands to see what works. Wouldn’t you rather have a healthy girl than save a few dollars? Then you also won’t run the risk of having to treat her with expensive dermatology treatments.

    Yes it is true. You’re daughter’s genitals can become very irritated, and even become infected from regular soap. Little girls really need to use baby, mild, or hypoallergenic soap. There are even adult women who have to in that area. I can’t use regular soap down there. It’s too harsh, it hurts my skin. Listen to you wife, and if you don’t believe me ask your child’s doctor.
